Winter Restaurant Week

Okay, either they're underpublicizing this stuff or I just keep missing it, but... A friend alerted me that next week, January 8-14, is restaurant week.  I guess I'll be skipping it this year since a) I'm not seeing anyone, at all, right now, b) Oddly enough, all of my female friends are not single, and c) I refuse to do a man date.  Unless you're gay, I just think there's something awkward about two men having dinner in a nice restaurant.  Maybe it's because the point of going out is the prospect of sex at the end of the night, however remote.  "Look, Bill, I know we're not gay, but... you know... I *did* pick up the check, so...  are you going to invite me up or what?"  Anyway, you kids go and enjoy yourselves.  I was going to recommend Tosca, but I guess they're sitting this year out.  Also, Dino is doing restaurant month.  So have at it.

Wouldn't dinner with a non-single female friend, perhaps two, be enjoyable? I bet I can think of two friends of yours who would go. If I tried realllll hard.

Tosca is on there. look under "R" for ristorante.

the list somehow doesn't seem as good as usual. or perhaps i'm just disenchanted? i always get a chuckle out of average-joe restaurants like austin grill jumping in the race for restaurant week. $30 for 3 courses at austin grill? no thanks.

Roosh - yeah, but do you put out?

K - ah, you mean the old threesome of unavailability. Yep, did that one on my birthday.

ETC - I stand corrected. Yeah, I think with some of those restaurants you'd actually be paying MORE than you would at menu price.

While I am not taking pleasure in your displeasure, it is good to know that I'm not the only one who feels the sting of not having a date particularly during restaurant week.

Well the bright side is that if we did have dates, we'd be frantically opentabling trying score a reservation at a decent restaurant that wasn't for 5pm or 9:30pm. Instead I'll enjoy some takeout thai in the comfort of my own home at a normal eating time. Watching Star Trek.

I usually opt for Lebanese Taverna myself. Watching SVU or Scrubs or something else in syndication constantly.

I think we win.

KassyK, Betty Joan, Velvet and I are partaking in RW. We can always try to make it into a Five-Top. But know that you would then be subject to hearing a bunch of hens talking about their love lives, or lack thereof. I fear that that may put you off your $30 dinner.

Heh, well I appreciate the offer, and all the offers I've received, but that post wasn't intended to solicit pity invitations to RW. I was just trying to add a little more commentary other than just "Hey everybody, RW is next week." And besides, I doubt your crew would be happy with you inviting the grumpy old man to dinner.

You really don't know us at all, my dear one. Pity is not a word in our vocabulary. We would delight in torturing you with all the girl talk and photograph-posings, however, so it's probably to your benefit to sit this one out.

Good luck with the cigarette weaning, btw. I'm going to have to go Cold Turkey. Think I'll take up knitting, so that I've something to do with my hands. For me, the action itself is what I'm addicted to...not so much the nicotine or the oral fix it provides.

I may be sitting at home alone eating thai, but I will still be doing the photograph posing.

I'm more of an action guy myself too - it's going to be hard. Although, you might look peculiar knitting in a bar.

Seriously. Come with us. It's not pity. If they can't make it a table for 5 though, someone will have to sit on someone else's lap. I'm getting incredible visions in my head of how this will play out...We're eating at PS7.

Besides, no one is grumpy once KassyK starts with the Xanax and I have Klonopin now. Come on! Fun for all!

Hmmm... pills and the potential of lap dances. I see you've found my weak spot.
