Help Internets!

In the eighties there was a PSA for libraries that used an insidious rap to appeal to kids to read more.  That rap has been haunting me all day.  I remember most of it, but I think some of the lyrics might be wrong.  Help me out internets:

Books, check em out! Books, check em out!
Read about cars and stars, playin' electric guitars,
Or cops that work hard patrolin' the boulevard,
A heavyweight boxer and his craziest bout
Books, check em out!  At your library.

Surely someone other than me remembers this.  Was there more?

Wow, as one who fancies herself as a bit as a pop culture maven specializing in all things Schoolhouse Rock-esque, I am saddened and shamed to say I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. It is a dark day for me.

I remember this but not the exact words. Just google it...I'm sure you could probably even find the original on the internets.

Holy Crap! I sing this song all the time, much to the suffering of my fiance. For some reason I always thought it was from a local PSA, so I never thought anybody else would recognize it.

The only part I sing and remember is the first line. Usually in bookstores.

This changes everything.

I obvy googled it before I posted this. The only meaningful results are where people have listed this little ditty in their Books section of myspace. The problem is, they're all different. For example, I don't remember anything about hollywood stars.

I was hoping for some kind of consensus.

Even worse than google, everything on limewire is either an advertisement or wants you to install a toolbar...Grrrrrr...

The correct lyrics are: "Books, check em out! Books, check em out! Pick up a book. You got a fantasy? Imagination can take you to where you wanna be. Are you curious? How can you find out? Books, check em out! Read about stars and cars, play electric guitars, or cops who work hard, patrolling the boulevard. A heavy weight champ in his craziest bout. Books, check em out! Books, check em out! *BOOM* at your library.

Here I thought I was a loser for singing this song in my head at work. Then I googled it and saw that I am not alone, nor a loser.
