Rambler Roundup: I Hate Lentils Edition

  • I wish I had a coherent post for y'all today, but the simple fact is that I don't.  So there's that.
  • I spent most of Friday night drinking and making a pot of chili.  I'm pretty sure that drunken cooking is in my top 5 favorite activities.  And now that I have a nice set of cookware (a Valentine's Day present to myself - I heart me), it's even more fun.
  • Saturday was a total lazy day.  I'm not sure what I did, but it may have involved several episodes of Star Trek the Next Generation.
  • Saturday night I went to a friend's house party.  There was a shot luge (that's what we always called them - you know, where you carve a block of ice into a shot dispensing shape), which is something that I haven't seen since college.  Pretty hardcore, but I didn't actually see anyone use it, so not nearly as hardcore as it appeared.  I did see something that I feel is worth commenting on: if you're wearing a collared shirt with a tshirt over it and a blazer on top of that, you're wearing the official douche bag's uniform and will be treated as such.  So sayeth I.
  • More observation led me to coin the term "indieronic."  Because the ironic indie tshirts aren't really true examples of irony, so I feel this word captures the new meaning.  A google search indicates that I might have a legitimate claim to this word.
  • Despite Saturday night's weak beginning, it had a strong finish so I'm happy with that.
  • The Sunday experiment.  Take a bad idea and add ingredients until you get a truly worse idea.  Success as usual.
  • I hate lentils.  That is all.

UPDATE (or rather, I forgot)

  • Speaking of Star Trek, I somehow came home last night with a Star Trek bumper sticker.  The thing is, I think I might actually put it on my car, right next to the Def Leppard bumper sticker.  It's like I'm 12 all over again.  Puberty should hit any day now.
  • It should come as no suprise, but I won a nerd-off among some friends and received a prize.  Thanks M.A.

I am so glad that after all these years of dragging it from one side of the country to the other, the Star Trek bumper sticker may finally see some use.

I thought I was the only one who loves Star Trek: TNG. "Make it so."

I still think my story was supremely nerdy, but I gladly defer to the man who'd willingly put a Star Trek sticker on his car.

The Boy - it's about all the attention span will allow right now.

Jordan - I had no idea the Enterprise had traveled so far.

Chase - it was an old nerdy passion that has been reignited recently.

K - well you can contest the award if you like. I will turn in my scepter, sash, and tiara.

What does the sticker say? Does it just say "Star Trek", or does it go through the nerd-comedy roof with "Beam me up, Scotty?" (I realize the different Star Treks, don't explain it to me - it will only consecrate your nerd status further).

I think Indieronic is hilarious and I'll happily cite you as I proceed to use it willy-nilly. I knew something distasteful had happened to irony, but I didn't know what to call it. Until now. Bravo.

I think it says something like "This car runs on warp power." I don't remember - I defer to Jordan. But there is a picture of the enterprise.

Meg - yeah, I think with that word I've contributed enough to society. I'll take my pension now.

I think it's "this vehicle moves at warp speed" or something like that.

You were truly a gracious winner of the award. I forgot to tell you that the second part of the prize is to perform a song for the society--you may choose to do so using your own time table, of course.

And as for: "a Valentine's Day present to myself - I heart me" that was one of the sweetest things I've read all day. You should *heart* yourself, dude.

Yep -- that qualifies.

Excellent.

Jordan - yeah that's it.

MA - well, if I'm choosing the timetable... how does 2045 look for you?
