Rambler Roundup: Boring Weekend Edition

Not much to report on the weekend.  Walter is still adjusting - he and his new mom are getting along well.  He made his first friend - another female in the building about his same age and size.  He's pooping a lot - seriously, I think he shits more than he eats.  I should just call him Poopbag.

The gf and I went to San Marco for dinner on Saturday night.  It had been a while since I'd been there - I forgot how good (and cheap!) the food is.  Most of the entrees are $10 or less, though the fish and veal specials run around $13-15.  We got a bottle of Stella Montepulciano, an excellent fruity and mellow table wine, for a mere $18.  I had the sausage and rigatoni, which was awesome, and the gf had the pesto gnocchi, which was decidedly over-salted.  And of course  cannolis for dessert - so effing good.  With the bottle of wine, pre-dinner cocktails, her shot of lemoncello and my grappa, we were pretty loaded by the time we got home.  There was a little tv watching followed shortly by a pasta-and-booze-induced coma.

Sunday was another lazy day, although a serious night for tv watching.  The West Wing season premier (lackluster at best), the Curb Your Enthusiasm season premier (excellent), and a new episode of Rome (to which I am now inseparably addicted), all in one night.  I know, I know my life is fascinating right now, isn't it?  Well, feel free to use the comments section to discuss San Marco, Italian food, West Wing, Curb, Rome, your chronic gum disease, my penchant for inappropriate references to genital herpes, etc.  It's kind of a free-for-all today.

Oh, and if you think you're going to get an exciting post tomorrow, forget it.  Monday is the ritual day for Mr. Chen's and the West Wing marathon on Bravo.

After my unfortunate run-in with the delivery man, I finally decided I couldn't give up on Mr. Chen's for good. When Chase-ing Random Thoughts was over for the LOST premiere, we ordered, and it was gooooood. My mom always kvels over their eggplant. I ordered it in the ginger & basil sauce with LOW oil, and it was fan-fucking-tastic...

Where is San Mrco?? I can see the sign in my head, but I can't remember from where. Adams Morgan??

Lemoncello and Grappa. You went for the total experience. Sounds like fun.

TIVO is your friend. You should meet him. We just got it last week and already can't remember how we survived without it.

I will be getting mine from comcast next week. I will be able to record "Cops" whenever and wherever it comes on.

I thought that Cops, like Married With Children and Seinfeld, was one of those shows that was *always* on some channel or another?

Yeah, be careful what you ask for. I programmed a "season pass" of the daily show, which is set to only record "first run" shows, but now my queue is filled with about a thousand showings of the daily show.
