Random Notes #9594

Within two blocks of my office there is: a Cosi, a McDonalds, a Subway, an Au Bon Pain, 2 Quiznos, a Sizz-Ex, a Corner Bakery, a High Noon, a SoHo Cafe, and various chinese and mexican restaurants.  And all I want is a goddamned decent slice of pizza.

I have re-taken 1st and 2nd place in Mystery Phrase on the Megatouch machine at Toledo.

I'm becoming a big fan this this guy.

Re "this guy," yeah..Phil is doing some amusing stuff. He hit a personal peak last week in the comments section of D.C. Cookie's "Girl's Poop" blog.

There's a place in Naperville (Chicago burb) where you can see three separate Starbucks.

Sounds like the same place I work, good old Golden Triangle. What about Armand's?

Phil is a genius.

I'm too far east to be in the Triangle. No Armand's around here. Supposedly the Blimpy's (which I forgot about) has pizza, but I don't even want to imagine how bad it must be.

Can you get to Giorgio's on 20th, between New Hampshire and M? Not good... but not bad...

Nope, that's like 8 or 9 blocks. Too far for not good pizza. There's a halfway decent place at 13th and G, 3 blocks from me, but it's still not worth a 3 block walk. There's also a decent place in the National Press Building food court at 13th and F, but that's a little far. I take very short lunches, normally.

Hey, I don't want to hear anyone in DC complaining about a lack of decent pizza. I live smack in the middle of central Chicago (the world's most famous pizza city) and I can't even get a decent pizza delivered to my house. Believe it or not, the best pizza in the area is Dominos...which didn't even crack the top 10 pizza joints in my former home; Morgantown, West Virginia.......Way to go Chi-town

RCR - I'm not pulling Simpsons quotes out of thin air this time; that WAS a Nelson Muntz laugh?

BS - dude, Giordano's: LOGAN SQUARE (773)862-4200 2855 N. MILWAUKEE AVE. Won't they deliver?

Kathryn - of course.

awesome. In that case...

"'Nuke the whales'?"
"Gotta nuke somethin'!"
"Touche."

You have to remember that Big Sexy (I hate calling him that) refuses to recognize Chicago style pizza as good. Not even passably good. Though I admit I'm not always in the mood for pizza so thick that one slice is a full meal, his opionion is not universally shared. To characterize Giordanno's as not even "decent" clearly demonstrates his lunacy.

I'll bet he also thinks Papa Johns is better than Dominos, which is so very very wrong.

BS - not a trustable source on food reviews. He also won't east any kind of eggs or seafood (though he was a sport and gave sushi a whirl).

Ok, let me clarify my stance on Chicago Style deep dish one last time. I absolutely love Chicago style deep dish, and I think that Giordano's is fantastic......However, I don't consider Chicago style deep dish an actual "pizza" I consider it more of a pie or casserole. When I am looking to order a "pizza" I draw the line on size at "pan crust" Anything bigger is no longer a pizza in my opinion.

Now you're just playing semantic games.
