Un-PC Hall of Fame

We here at the Rambler do not consider ourselves to be very PC.  In fact, sometimes we can be downright distasteful.  Sometimes, we refer to ourselves in the plural.  So when I see or hear something that makes even ME stop and say "Wow," I feel compelled to share it with you.  Today I just overheard a phone conversation where the term "diversity nazi" was used.  What's distinctive about this phrase is not only the casual use of the word "nazi," effectively making light of the Holocaust, but the fact that it's actually oxymoronic by suggesting that one who seeks for greater [ethnic] diversity could also be a Nazi.  So congratulations, guy across the hall, for the most un-PC term of the day.

Please, please. No accolades. I can't help that I respect cultures based on fellatio and ass-sex. After all, I'm American.

i suppose more important than any word is the intent behind it's use.

I first heard the term "nazi" being expanded back in the early days of college with references to the "ROTC Nazis" -- a derogatory reference to members of ROTC who thought they were hardcore, I think. Or maybe to all ROTC members. Don't know.

Further expansion occurred when that blathering asswipe known as Rush Limbaugh popularized the term "feminazi" to show his disdain for equal rights for women.

As someone else already pointed out, Seinfeld was the last straw. It made all things possible with nazi...now you can be the parking nazi, the soup nazi, the only freshmint gel toothpaste nazi, the flip flop nazi, etc.

That other N word, I don't think, is open to such flippant use yet. Also I think that those who have direct connections to actual Nazi violence (as MPL points out) aren't so carefree about applying nazi to trivial inconveniences...

I find the word nigger, highly offensive. What really pisses me off is when black people use it to regard other blacks. Oh they say, we are reclaiming the word and taking away its negative connotations by saying 'nigga' instead or nigger.
What a pile of mornonic bullshit!
If that is the case...then why can't white people say it to a black person?
I guess it's a '"Members Only" saying?
Please...
If we really wanted to take away its negative power, then everyone would be able to use the word openly and to whomever they want..be them white, black, asian, hispanic, whatever.
But no...blacks are the only ones that can say it without fear of getting beat up.
It is ridiculous.
Personally, I don't think anyone should be able to use it. It is a horrible word used to oppress. What's next? Are we going to start debating over the merits of calling ourselves a pickaninny or sambo?
Give me a freaking break.

I am guilty of using nazi to describe something. Basically to describe someone who is commandeering and regimented - meter nazi, hallway nazi, etc. I'm much more aware of it now and try not to use it as much. I had to think to myself, what if someone used the term "slaveowner" in my presence to describe a commandeering person. I would probably think it was extremely rude. Being PC can be tricky.

I guess some bloggers out there might consider DCB to be the "Blogger Nazi?"

Just throwing that out there....
