Resigning Sucks

I finally submitted my formal resignation yesterday.  That really really really sucked.  I actually broke out into a cold sweat right before I went to his office.  As if I didn't already feel bad, my boss proceeded to compliment me and tell me I have a natuaral ability for [what I do].  Today he told me he wasn't going to try to change my mind, but said he be quite happy if I rescinded my decision.   All of this even though I came in 100 hours below our yearly minimum, which is already really effing low.  Argh, I hate making real-life decisions.

Congratulations, though, on getting through it. I quit my last job while on-site at our biggest conference in California. I had to take my boss aside as she dropped in on my area and completely blindside her with my resignation. Awkward.

Thanks. Yeah, this would have all been a lot easier if my boss wasn't so nice to me.

The comments your boss made to you, following your resignation, show that they are one class act.

If there is any logical reason to keep that tie connected, you should look for it in terms of having supportive people in your life.

It was hard for me to hand in my formal resignation to my old boss this past April. He was the best boss I have ever had and probably will ever have. The problem was that I hate the Pres of the company who made my worklife hell. Besides I needed to further my career.
I am sure you are making the right decision, and it is always nice to hear that he thinks so highly of you. Maybe you can work with him again some day:)

Congrats man! Welcome to the long line of bloggers quitting their day jobs. Anytime you contemplate a move, it means that its time to move on. Not that the next firm will be any better, but hey maybe there'll be a cute paralegal.

Good luck and good hunting!
