One of Those Days

This has been one of those days where I've seriously contemplated going down to the liquor store and buying a bottle of scotch to get me through the rest of the day.  How is it only Wednesday?   How is it only 3pm?  Yeesh.  It's time to make these happy hours bi-weekly.

In related alcoholism news, a new bar has opened up IN MY OFFICE BUILDING.  Oh dear, this does not bode well for the Rambler.  The bar, ingeniously called Kstreet, is located at 1301 K St., between the entrances of the east and west towers.  I guess they've technically been open for a month or so, but they're having a grand opening / halloween happy hour this Friday.  If you're a tenant or employee of the building, you get one free drink.  If anyone wants to check it out let me know.   Has anyone already been?  Looks awfully clubbish to me.

It is clubbish, but I've been meaning to go. If your "happy hour" drink falls on the later side (as in 8ish), I'm in. I'm going out in that area Friday anyway.

I've been having one of those days too! Thank God it's almost over. Do report back with a rating for the bar though :-)

I've recently found that quitting your job always clears your head.

Fab. Let's call it a Master Overlord meeting, as I'll likely have our counterparts in tow.

A bar in your office buliding? WOW!! Trust me when I say that if they built a bar in our building...NO work would get done. We radio folk have a reputation for indulging too much in alcoholic beverages! ha ha

Hope your day has gotten better, my friend!

From an adoring fan via email:

Just to let you know, once you've indulged in your one free drink at K Street you'll be out the door. It's expensive and chichi (and this is coming from me so you know it must be bad)... definitely not somewhere you wanna be unless you have a reserved table. And why would you spend all that money to have bottle service when you could blow it on crack and strippers anyway?

Give a full report asap. Any sign of drinks ending in -tini and I'm out. Oh, and dance music.

I fully endorse the stippers and crack. Worked for Richard Pryor.

For the first time since I started this job 3 months ago, I'm officially caught up and out of work. This means I'm about to get bombarded, but for now: screw you guys, I'm going home.

FYI - I've heard nightmares about this place. It's small and crowded and snobby. Even the snobs who think they can get in anywhere have to wait in line or get turned away. Happy hour might be aiiight though. Regardless, let's meet up for a drink friday, somewhere...

I'd be up for a DC HH Friday. It would be a nice change. I can't seem to get my friends to go out in DC anymore. They seem to be stuck in Arlington.

K Street is indeed the new "scene." It's to replace Chloe basically. Same idea, same crowd.

I think it's worth checking out though...perhaps we can have a HH (or, blogger bar night as I call them now) there soon...

So my office building is a "scene" now? Should I expect to pass long lines out the door on my way home? What about the prostitutes. Won't somebody please think of the prositutes.

A bar in your work building is very cool. Bathroom breaks could get interesting.
